2014 Minnesota Business Ethics Award Honors Restaurant Technologies, Inc.
Accolade recognizes companies that maintain exemplary business cultures and practices
MINNEAPOLIS – June 3, 2014 – Restaurant Technologies, Inc. (RTI), has been recognized as one of Minnesota’s most ethical companies. RTI executives accepted the 2014 Minnesota Business Ethics Award (MBEA), which honors companies that exemplify high standards of ethical conduct in the workplace, the marketplace and the community.
RTI was one of four companies that received the award on May 14, which Gov. Mark Dayton decreed as Business Ethics Awareness Day in Minnesota. RTI – which provides automated oil management solutions to foodservice organizations across the nation – was presented with one of two crystal awards given in the “large company” category (over 500 employees). Each of the four honorees also received a congratulatory letter from the governor.
A panel of judges – including business practitioners and business ethicists from regional colleges and universities – decided the winners based on a number of factors. Those included the success of programs that promote an ethical business culture.
“At Restaurant Technologies, Inc. we’re always guided by our 5C values: customer, character, commitment, courage and community,” said Jeff Kiesel, the company’s CEO. “We hire, manage, recognize and promote employees based on these values. We emphasize the 5Cs at business meetings, to new hires, and during roundtable discussions in our headquarters and throughout our 41 service centers.
“Our 5Cs go well beyond internal ethics,” Kiesel added. “The value and responsiveness that RTI provides to foodservice organizations has been recognized with both awards and a 97-percent customer retention and renewal rate.”
As a recipient of the Minnesota award, the Mendota Heights-based company is eligible as a candidate for the American Business Ethics Award. “Minnesota is fortunate to enjoy a strong reputation for ethical business, and this award acknowledges this,” said Dyanne Ross-Hanson, MBEA co-chair and president of Exit Planning Strategies, LLC.
